Savings Account:
The present rate of interest on Savings Account is 3.5 % per annum.
Interest on Savings Account is credited at the end of every quarter.

On this cumulative Term Deposit Scheme interest is compounded at the end of every quarter with effective yield much higher than the offered (Coupon)rate of interest.
Fixed Deposit Scheme:
Interest on Fixed Deposits is paid at specified intervals monthly/quarterly/six-monthly.
Through Electronic Clearing System, interest on such deposits can be credited to any account, maintained at any other bank-branch (in the same city) specified by the depositor.

Any savings account holder can open the account under the scheme. |
| What is the minimum balance I shall maintain in my savings account to avail the facility of FLEXI FIXED DEPOSIT? |
 |
The minimum balance in the savings account shall be Rs 10,000/-. The excess balance over the minimum balance will be transferred to FLEXI FIXED DEPOSIT account in multiples of Rs 5,000, on weekly basis. |
| Whether I can get any additional interest on the amount invested in my savings account? |
 |
Yes, you can earn additional interest on the balance over & above required to be maintained in savings account. If the balance in savings account exceeds Rs 15000/-, the excess amount over the minimum balance ( Rs 10,000/-) will be transferred to flexi fixed account. The depositor can earn more interest than the regular savings account. |
| How the amount will be transferred from FLEXI FIXED DEPOSIT account? |
 |
The account holder has to submit the declaration. The excess balance will be automatically transferred to your FLEXI FIXED DEPOSIT account & in case of requirement of funds in savings account ,the amount will be transferred from FLEXI FIXED DEPOSIT account in multiples of Rs. 5,000/- [LIFO method]. |
| What will be the rate of interest on such deposits? |
 |
The interest will be paid after 30 days at the rate of 5% p.a. and the amount of interest will be credited to the savings account. |
| What will be the rate of interest for before maturity withdrawal? |
 |
In case of deposit transferred after 7 days, but before 30 days, at least the interest as per the savings rate of interest will be paid. Hence there will not be any loss of interest. |
| Can the depositor avail the overdraft facility? |
 |
Yes, the depositor can avail the 90 %overdraft facility on FLEXI FIXED DEPOSIT account. The overdraft amount will be transferred to the saving accounts as per instructions of the account holder. |

The depositor can deposit the amount for a minimum period of 2 years and maximum period of 5 years, At the time of maturity of deposit the age of the depositor i.e minor must be below 18 years. |

Yes, the depositor can withdraw the deposit before the maturity of the deposit. In such case, the rate of interest will be as per the present rules of before maturity. |

The minimum deposit should be Rs 1,000/-. The depositor can deposit the amount in multiple of Rs 1,000/-. There is no upper limit for the amount of deposit. |
| For which period the deposit can be accepted? |
 |
The amount can be deposited for the period of 36 months to 60 months. |
| What is the applicable rate of interest for this scheme? |
 |
| The Rate of Interest for the deposit is 8.5% p.a. |
| The interest will be paid quarterly on 31st March/ 30th June / 30th Sept/ 31st Dec every year. |

| Can the depositor withdraw the amount, before maturity period of the deposit? |
 |
- Yes, premature closure of the account is allowed, Before maturity clause will be applicable i.e the rate of interest applicable for that period -less 2%. - The depositor can also avail overdraft upto 95% and the rate for such overdraft will be 10.5% p.a. In such case the quarterly interest will be transferred to overdraft account. |
| What benefit will be available for the depositor, if the account is opened jointly with spouse? |
 |
In case of death of the depositor before maturity period and when the account is jointly with spouse, the survivor can continue the account till the maturity period, even though the age of survivor is below 60 yrs the said person can get interest @ 8% p. a. for remaining period. If the spouse wants to withdraw the deposit before maturity, interest will be paid at 8.5% till date of withdrawal. |

Our Bank is offering a Special Interest Rate for Senior Citizens, which is at par with the scheme of Central Government made applicable through Post Offices and Commercial Banks. Fixed Deposit Receipt |
Fixed Deposit Receipts will be available at respective branch in which deposit is made. Following matter should be quoted in Fixed Deposit Receipt.

Accountholder should sign on the Fixed Deposit Receipt and also should mention his PAN number alongwith the signature. |

Income Tax |
Interest on these term deposits shall be liable to tax under the Act, on the basis of annual accrual or receipt, depending upon the method of accounting followed by the assessee. |

The deduction U/s 80 C can be claimed by the person who has contributed the money for such deposit. It can be claimed by the First named person in joint holding if the First named person has so contributed the amount. |

Before Maturity Withdrawal |
No term deposit shall be encashed before the expiry of five years from the date of Fixed Deposit Receipt. |

Whether this scheme will be applicable for existing deposits of Rs.1 lac? |
The scheme will not be applicable for the existing deposits and they will not be eligible to claim deduction
u/s 80 C. The benefit will be available to those deposits which are placed under the scheme after declaration of the said scheme i.e. from 17 th Aug,2006 onwards. |

Whether the Nomination facility is available? |
- Yes, Nomination facility is available. Nomination shall be made in favour of only one individual.
- No nomination shall be made in respect of a term deposit applied for and held by or on behalf of a minor.

Whether the deposit under this scheme are transferable from one branch to another? |
Deposits can be transferred from one branch to another. However, deposits cannot be transferred from one scheduled bank to another. |

Account Opening Form |
Every time separate account opening form should be submitted while keeping deposit every time. In case of Joint Accounts all joint account holders should sign the Account Opening Form. |

Issue of Duplicate FDR |
If FDR is lost, stolen, destroyed or defaced the depositor can apply for the issue of a duplicate receipt to the concerned branch giving details viz. number, amount and date of the receipt and circumstance attending such loss, theft, destruction, mutilation or defacement. If Branch Manager is satisfied, he will issue a duplicate receipt on the applicant furnishing an indemnity bond with two sureties or with a bank guarantee.
No indemnity bond or sureties are required for deposits below Rs.500/- |

Interest of FDR |
The interest may be paid either in lump sum at the time of maturity or monthly/quarterly/half-yearly intervals. |

Quoting of Rate of Interest on FDR? |
The rate of interest applicable at the time of keeping the deposit should be quoted on FDR. |

Payment to Nominees |
In the event of the death of the holder of a term deposit receipt, the nominee shall make an application in our prescribed form to the Branch Manager, supported by proof of death of the holder. |

Payment to legal heirs |
If holder of deposit dies and there is no nomination in force at the time of his death, then legal heirs should apply alongwith Death Claim Application, Indemnity Bond, Affidavit & Succession Certificate wherever necessary. The sum due to the deceased shall be paid to legal heirs after completing the necessary procedure. |

Overdraft Against Term Deposits:
Overdraft to the extent of 90% of Term Deposits with the Cosmos Bank is available across the counter.
Interest rate on the overdraft account is charged at the rate of 2% more than the Fixed Deposit receipt rate for general customers, non individuals and co-op. Socities and 1 % for Senior citizens.
Overdraft Against National Savings Certificate:
Overdraft to the extent of 60% of the face value of National Savings Certificate is available.
Interest on such overdrafts is charged at 12%.
Overdraft Against Life Insurance Policy:
Overdraft against LIC Policy is available to the extent of 75% the surrender value of the policy.
Interest on such overdrafts is charged at 12%.
Overdraft Against Gold:
Interest on over draft against gold is charged at the rate of 12%.
For this purpose gold ornaments are valued at the rate of Rs. 8000/- per hall marked gold 10 gms, Rs.7000/- 10 gms gold and Rs.12000/- 1KG silver .
Overdraft Against Shares:
Against equity shares of reputed companies held in DEMAT Format.
Overdraft is available upto 50% of market value of pledged shares.
Interest on such overdrafts charged at 14%. |
